Further development

Learners can go on to take higher level qualifications  such as the Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Management

How is the course assessed?

You will learn on the job in the work environment. This means that you must be working in an environment that offers t opportunity to gain the qualification successfully.

The qualifications are competence-based. This means that they are linked to a person’s ability to perform a range of tasks connected to their work to a required standard.

To gain these qualifications a candidate must achieve the level of competence described in the relevant units of competence.

Evidence is submitted to the candidate’s assessor and forms part of a portfolio. Evidence should be derived from performance in the workplace. Assessment  methods include:

  • direct observation
  • witness testimony
  • performance of activities in the workplace
  • documentary and other product-based evidence
  • a personal report by the candidate endorsed by colleagues

How is the qualification delivered?

An initial assessment of each candidate is made before the start of their programme to identify:

  • if the candidate has any specific training needs,
  • support and guidance they may need when working towards their qualification
  • any units they have already completed, or credit they have accumulated which is relevant to the qualification

Candidates must then submit evidence of competence under the direction of their assessor/mentor for assessment and verification. Evidence is normally submitted electronically (e-portfolio).
