Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)

What is this qualification about?

It provides an introduction to teaching and training adults and is an essential first step towards practitioner status.

Who is it for?

This award is for all new and existing entrants who either may not have prior experience or who already deliver teaching, learning and training to adults in the lifelong learning sector and need to gain their professional qualifications.

What sorts of things will it cover?

  • Roles and responsibilities of teachers/trainers in the sector
  • Inclusive practice
  • Planning and delivering a session
  • Assessment principles and practice

How you will learn and be assessed?

You will learn in the classroom as well as on the job in the work environment.  Assessment will be a combination of a short portfolio of evidence, practical skills, demonstrations and observations

How much and when?

The cost of the course is £295 and there are a number of different delivery patterns to choose:

  • Tuesday mornings – 9.30am to 12.30pm for 10 weeks, commencing 24th January 2012
  • Monday evenings – 5.30pm to 8.30pm for 10 weeks, commencing 16th April 2012
  • Tuesday all day – 9.45am to 4.30pm for 6 weeks, commencing 15th May 2012
