NEBOSH National Certificate in Environmental Management

 

Who is it for?

The course is designed for managers, supervisors and employees who have responsibility for managing environmental issues as part of their work. A role often undertaken by Quality Managers or Health and Safety Managers.
No previous environmental management knowledge is required.

Recognition?

The NEBOSH National Environmental Certificate has been accredited and credit rated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).  It sits in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at SCQF Level 6 with 9 SCQF credit points.
SCQF Level 6 is comparable to NQF/QCF Level 3 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Course content

It covers the practical issues of managing environmental risk. The syllabus takes a risk management approach based on the best practice and international industry standards, Including:
● Environmental Management Systems and Impact Assessments
● Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency
● Control of pollution
● Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies.

Further development

The National Certificate in Environmental Management is a valuable introduction to those wishing to progress to the NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management.

How is the course assessed?

Candidates are assessed by a written examination for the single taught unit and a practical exercise conducted in a workplace.

How are the courses delivered?

There are two options:

  1. Day course (one day per week) over 6 weeks (including exam).
  2. Block delivery over one week. Exam is on the last day of the following week. There are 6 teaching days including exam.
